We build the Scotland Outdoors podcast from the live program we do for BBC Radio Scotland,

which is called Out of Doors.

And this week there was a bit of an island theme.

This morning I was about 8, 10 feet away from, you know, a road deer buck.

And the reason it happened was I was driving around a backcountry road, quite slowly, thankfully.

And all of a sudden this thing came bursting out the undergrowth and ran alongside the passenger window

and it looked like velvet.

This time of year they are

it's a really sort of rich

almost fox red colour these animals

are beautiful, beautiful things.
