Summary

No story is without its share of joy, anticipation, trials, and victories, and the same can be said about the founding of The Allender Center. This year we are celebrating 10 years as a center and place where people have found healing from trauma. It has been an immense honor to be able to hear and walk with you through your stories of harm into restoration. Today, Dan and Rachael share memories and tales with Becky Allender and Jeanette White, Interim Senior Director, both former guests of the podcast and founding members of The Allender Center. You’ll get to hear true behind-the-scenes stories of how The Allender Center came to be and what drives them to continue this work today.

Hey there. We're celebrating 10 years at the Allender Center. And to kick things off, we're going to be looking back and sharing stories, remembering how we got to where we are today. glorious weekend. And frankly, I feel like I'm reflecting on 10 years that have been a long,

1:17.1

good, hard battle. And there's, frankly, a lot of grief, a lot of joy. And everything that the

Allender Center has been and done has to bear the reality

1:30.4

of this kind of complexity. And one of the reasons I want folks to keep listening, even if they

1:36.6

go, look, good for you. You got 10 years under your belt, but I was actually hoping for some

real information. We're going to talk a little bit

1:45.2

behind the scenes, but really the premise is this. Anything looks far better when it's on the

1:52.5

internet or on Facebook than what it is actually in life. And so to hold the reality that

1:58.6

we've all been able to do some remarkable things and have been

very significant in many people's lives, but there has been a cost and also a privilege.

2:10.3

And we want to be able to name that for us.

2:13.0

I want to turn first to my beloved wife and say, how did you first hear of this thing called

the Allender Center?
