Summary

Often in the church, we try to figure out exactly what God is doing when we are going through difficult things. Simply put, we shouldn't do that. The secret things belong to the Lord, and we are not privy to the counsel of God when it comes to our suffering. In today's episode, Jon and Justin aim to point out things that God has clearly revealed and promised to us in his Word. We do have an unshakable hope in the Lord Jesus Christ, and this is what we cling to--in the midst of joy or pain. Semper Reformanda: Jon and Justin continue the conversation on suffering by considering less-than-good ways suffering is talked about and dealt with in the church. We have a gentle, patient, and merciful Savior. This should inform how we interact with one another in the midst of pain. The reality is in the church today, we don't do ourselves a favor in trying to read through the lines of God's providence and trying to read the tea leaves and figure out exactly what God is up to and all of the hard things that we endure in this life. Let's be real,
0:25.5	there's a lot of times that we go through stuff where there's just no earthly good at all in sight,
0:29.9	and platitudes and the way that we rip scripture out of context doesn't help. So we're going to
0:34.6	consider today things that are absolutely clear and true about God as he's
0:38.3	revealed himself in His Word. And we're going to think about the promises that the Lord has made to us through Jesus Christ and what he's accomplished for us. We do have an eternal hope that's unshakable. And this is what we cling to.
