say that Jesus is Michael the Archangel.

The first kind are the ones you have to worry about.

That is Jehovah's Witnesses or others who want to try to devalue Jesus to say that he's a

created being.

And so they'll quote verses I'm going to share with you and verses I won't, that they won't be quoting

that I will also share with you.

And they'll quote these verses to try to suggest that Jesus is less than God with us, that he is not the eternal God made manifest, but he is rather a created

being. Maybe the first creative, maybe the best creative being. But the demotion from eternal God

to created being is a big one with a lot of consequences for your salvation,

for eternal life, for whether or not you can even claim that you believe in Jesus when you

think something like that about him. There's the second type, though. The second kind of person

who says that Jesus is Michael the Archangel is a guy like Charles Spurgeon. Did you know that

Charles Spurgeon actually believed Jesus was Michael the Archangel? He said, quote, Michael is the Lord Jesus, the only archangel. That's a Spurgeon

quote. Some reformers thought that Jesus and Michael the Archangel shared an identity. Calvin said,

and he did it a little tentatively, but he says, Michael may mean an angel, but I embrace the opinion of those who refer this to the person of Christ.

John Wesley also thought something like this.

And his commentary on Daniel 12, he says that Michael is, quote, the Messiah.

So that's about Michael the Archangel.

Now, the difference between these two groups of people, like say JWs or Arians or those who want to deny the deity of Christ, the true and full deity of Christ, they want to lower Jesus to where they see Michael at.

And then the other group wants to raise Michael to where they see Jesus.

You see, they're not trying to, like Charles Spurgeon and John Wesley and John Calvin. They're not trying to lower Christ. They're

trying to lift up Michael in your estimation and say, hey, Michael is basically the son of God.
