Sometimes I think of life like a boat cutting through water.

Behind it, as we all know, awake forms. Loud, messy, sprawling. It looks alive,

almost as though it's pulling the boat forward. But it's not. The wake doesn't drive the boat.

The wake is simply proof of where the boat's been.
