Summary

How often do you see yourself the way God does? The kingdom isn’t about fixing yourself—it’s about stepping into the new life that’s already yours. In this conversation, we explore what it means to stop striving and start living from a place of rest, joy, and unshakable identity in Christ.

Key Scriptures:

2 Corinthians 5:17-18. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

+ Romans 6:3-11. Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? … Even so, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

+ Matthew 11:28-30. Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

+ Isaiah 41:8-14. Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

+ Romans 8:31-38. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? … For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What if who you are in Christ was more real to you than anything else? What if you could leave

0:07.6

behind the weight of striving and simply rest in the confidence that God's love never fails?

0:15.8

Hey friends, welcome back to the Brilliant Perspectives podcast. Today's episode is another highlight from our

0:23.2

two-day virtual event called Brilliance 24. And this conversation is all about shifting from effort

0:30.4

to expectation, from self-doubt, to trust, and from trying to earn God's favor to realizing you already have it.

0:40.3

If you've ever felt the tug of old mindsets or wondered how to truly live in your new nature,

0:47.3

you won't want to miss this one. So settle in, take a deep breath, and let's jump in with

Graham Cook and Dionne Van Zelle.

I hope by now you've seen that the kingdom is for anyone who partners with Jesus.

1:05.2

Anyone who's born again, the kingdom is for everyone.

1:08.7

You're not some special, gifted, whoever. These are ordinary people

1:12.6

walking with an extraordinary God. And he's going to make you look good. You know, when he says,

1:17.7

you know, we start a word, Jesus is amazing, he's wonderful, and then you become just like him.

1:22.9

Amazing and wonderful. So we have to have an expectation at some point, right, that we become amazing and

1:29.5

wonderful. Yeah. Yeah. So Graham, yesterday, you talked to us quite a bit about understanding

1:34.8

the difference between our state downstairs and our standing upstairs in God. You know,

1:41.0

your state, you said, is how you see yourself outside of Christ.

1:46.0

Right. When we see ourselves often as weak or powerless or incapable or inadequate, maybe a bit of a victim, maybe we feel helpless. That feeling is our state outside of Christ. But your standing is who you are in Christ. And it's your

2:04.0

truest identity. It's the real you, right? You're strong, you're powerful, favored, you're

2:10.2

accepted, and you're the beloved. I love that. So, you know, you're in training. You're in training in the same way that Jesus learned, you're learning.

2:20.3

We've said many, many times what worked for Jesus is designed to work for you.

2:24.3

Yeah.
