Kirsten Hatfield, born February 12, 1989, was living in Midwest City, Oklahoma when, on

the night of May 13, 1997, she was tucked into sleep in the bedroom she shared with her little sister and never

seen again. After putting the eight-year-old in bed, along with her three-year-old sister,

Shannon McCrossin went to her own room and fell fast asleep. She was woken up at about 3 a.m. by what

she said was a whining sound coming from her daughter's

bedroom, but thought nothing of it because she knew her youngest, Faith, sometimes talked in her

sleep. Assuming that's all this sound was, she took a peek in to make sure the girls were okay

and noticed the door was closed. Finding that a little odd, Shannon pushed it back open, but did not go inside.

When she came back around three hours later, Kirsten was nowhere to be found.

Absolutely panicked.

Shannon paced the home and then called the local police to report her second grader missing.
