Summary

What happens when innocence collides with trauma, faith wrestles with pain, and a woman refuses to let her wounds define her future?

In this deeply moving episode of "Dear Future Wifey", Michelle Valorae sits down with **Laterras R. Whitfield and Ashley R. Whitfield for a raw and transparent conversation about the chapters of her life she never imagined would become part of her testimony. From experiencing sexual trauma to navigating the world of exotic dancing while still longing for purity, purpose, and God's best for her life, Michelle courageously shares her journey of pain, survival, healing, and redemption.

With remarkable vulnerability, Michelle opens up about how trauma impacted her view of love, relationships, and her identity as a woman. She discusses the tension between her faith and her circumstances, the struggles she faced behind closed doors, and the transformative power of God's grace that met her in some of her darkest moments.

Together, Laterras and Ashley help unpack the complexities of healing, self-worth, forgiveness, and preparing for healthy love after heartbreak. Michelle's story serves as a powerful reminder that our past may shape us, but it does not have to define us.

For anyone carrying hidden wounds, battling shame, or questioning whether love, marriage, and a fulfilling future are still possible, this conversation offers hope, healing, and proof that God's redemption can reach every corner of our lives.

Her scars tell a story of what she survived. Her faith tells a story of Who brought her through it.

I was taught if you are not a virgin on your wedding day, a Christian man isn't going to see you as worth

marrying. Unfortunately, I was drugged at a restaurant, pulled behind a building, assaulted, and left there by a

dumpster. And I lost my virginity. I went on a very dark path after that, and that's ultimately what

0:18.2

led me into becoming a dancer. I entered the sex industry. So because I thought that, okay, now I'm too broken for love, so for me it looks like giving up on this huge dream of marriage, throw away all of my letters to my husband, literally never thought marriage would ever be for me. You threw it away? Threw it all away. And then entered into a whole different way of life. How the church handled that was really disappointing.

I was reacting out of my pain, desperately asking for someone to help me,

and the church just saw my sin, and basically I was judged and cast aside.

0:48.3

What did that look like tangibly? What was the church doing?

When I came to my Bible school, I was put on a website called Good Girls Gone Bad.

0:56.5

Girls from the school literally created this website, and I was on there.

If you really look at it, it makes sense because my whole life I was taught, my whole worth is in my body.

1:06.0

Saving my body.

1:07.4

Seems drastic, but really not, because now my worth is still my body, and I can control it.

1:13.2

So you can look at me, but you can't touch me. I never left my belief in God in Jesus, but I

deconstructed. I deconstructed all of what I was taught, and then reconstructed and rebuilt

my relationship with Jesus. And that took about 10 years. A lot of time in the hiding place in my closet. That's why I'm so passionate about the importance of healing and being intentional about your healing. And if you want to find the right person, like you say, you have to become the right person. You're not too broken for God. You're not too broken for love. You can heal.

1:46.2

I didn't think I'd ever be on this couch with y'all.

1:51.7

And that's the power of Jesus, the power of restoration, and the power of intentional healing.

1:52.8

I am thriving.

1:54.2

I'm the best place I've ever been.

1:59.1

And so I'm looking for someone that can add that value and excitement into my life. Have you gotten guys shooting a shot at you on a healthy standpoint from a Christian standpoint?

2:08.6

What started as a search for understanding became a journey of transformation.

2:16.7

Every letter that I wrote led me to this day, the day I got married.
