Hey everybody it's it's kind. I want to share an update on a story we've been following. In November of

2023, three college students were shot while visiting family in Burlington,

Vermont. Hisham Urwatani,in, Abdel Hamid, and Tassin Ali Ahmed are all of Palestinian descent.

And at the time of the attack, two of them were wearing the traditional Palestinian Kefia,

a black and white scarf that's long been a marker of Palestinian identity.

They were all hospitalized following the shooting.

Kinnane and Tassin made full physical recoveries and returned to school,

but Hesham received longer-term treatment for injuries that have left him paralyzed below the abdomen.

We first met Hisham on the show in February and heard his

firsthand account of this alleged hate crime. We were walking along the sidewalk and

a guy comes down from the balcony and pulls out a gun before I know what's happening. It's like I'm on the floor.

I mean I heard the gunshots and I didn't quite understand it at the moment but I didn't know that I had been hit until like I saw blood on my phone.

At the time, Hisham was still processing the attack as he returned to school at Brown University. On that campus he had become a reluctant

symbol of Palestinian oppression and resistance. He added his way, he would have returned to anonymity.

But in the months since, his outlook has somewhat changed.
