And we had thought we had seen the cat. I mean, a cat that fit that description like in the sort of off the side

in the woods on the road to our house. Several times mom thought she had seen it. I thought I had seen it.

And so we had called the number on the poster and said like we think we've seen the cat here a few times.

And they were like, okay, thanks. Let us know if you see the cat again. So then we were all driving home from getting ice cream.

And we saw the cat. It was late at night. Well, not late at night. It was dark. I should say it was not late.

Anything that is dark seems late to me because I'm old, but it was dark. And so we looked through the headlights.

And I was like, oh my god, that's the cat. And mom was like, you got to save it. And I was like, I'm on it.

So I jumped out of the car and started running into the woods like Oscar, come here, Oscar, Oscar.

And the thing is the cat turned around and looked at me and then came towards me. And so I thought, I've got Oscar.

I have saved Oscar. This is great. And it looked like Oscar. And it was obviously somewhat domesticated because it came to me when I called.

Let me pick it up. I was petting the cat. It was fine. All was well.

But then when dad pulled the car a little closer so I could climb in with the cat. And mom was in the midst of calling the number to tell them we found Oscar.

The headlights of the car scared Oscar. And Oscar proceeded to scratch the daylights out of me.

Like through my coat, managed to like pierce my skin and draw blood through both my coat and sweater.
