Dr. Berg explains the reason behind the sticky tarry black stool on the ketogenic diet. It is basically an unabsorbed fat. Ketosis is a transition from sugar burning to fat burning and then when you consume a lot of fat, it is going to take some time to make the transition or adaptation. In the transition phase, you may end up with fatty stool (stool might float or greasy) a condition called steatorrhea, overloading the colon with more fat that it could actually handle. Another situation this may occur is when you do OMAD or one meal a day. The best thing to do is to give your body more time to adapt and possibly cut down some of the fats.
Other Related Condition Causing this:
• Blood - Ulcer
• Pancreatic disease
• Exocrine Gland Insufficiency
• Iron pills
• Medications
