Four years ago, Steven Soderbergh, one of the best directors in America, shocked the world,

announcing his retirement.

He was done.

He was in his late 40s and said, no, that's it.

I'm walking away from all the troubles in my life.

When he stopped quoting Craig David and then just retired.

But we figured that it wouldn't stick that somehow this intellectually rest this guy

would come back one day.

I mean, I think he was making his TV show The Nick Pretty Much and lo and behold, he

has returned to the movie making fold with this week's very enjoyable, heist movie,

Logan Lucky, which stars Jenny Tatum, Adam Driver, Daniel Craig and Riley Keeow.

It's a lot of fun.

And when Steven Soderbergh came to London, I jumped at the chance to have an audience

with a great man and asked him exactly what it was that drew him back at a retirement.

Now, full disclosure, this is a fairly long interview about 40 minutes.

If you're in the market for a career retrospective going film by film through all his career highlights,

this is not that interview.
