Georgetown law professor Stephen Vladick, who writes on the most cutting edge legal issues in his substack, one first, which if you're not getting

it, I highly recommend. And so, Steve, good to see you again. Thank you for being here.

Good, too, and I'm great to be back. So the first thing I'd like to tackle is the Attorney General's opening of an investigation or disciplinary hearing

or something regarding James Boseberg, Judge James Boseberg. This really smacks of authoritarian tactics here. Why don't you, so for a little bit of background,

for people who may not remember who Judge Bozberg is, he is a district court judge in D.C.

He is the judge who heard the Abrigo Garcia case and who ordered the planes to turn around and who believes

and has said that, you know, the administration lied to him.

But, okay, so if you wouldn't mind, just lay out what it is the Attorney General has done and why it worries you so much.

Sure. Gosh, where to begin? So the story starts a couple of weeks ago with a piece that was posted on the very pro-Trump outlet, the Federalist, where the Federalist reported on a leaked memorandum

from a March 11th meeting, Mona, of something called the Judicial Conference.

A lot of folks don't know what the judicial conference is.

To make a very long story short, it is the basically policymaking body of the entire federal courts.

It's a group of 26 judges led by Chief Justice John Roberts.

The chief judges of each of the federal courts of appeals is on the judicial conference, and then within

each of the circuits, there's one district judge who basically represents all of the district

judges. And the judicial conference exists. It was created 100 years ago for exactly the purpose

of providing a means by which judges could pool resources, could

identify common problems, and could, when necessary, recommend reforms or other sort of

remedies for common problems the judiciary is facing.

So the judicial conference meets a couple times a year.

You know, it looks at docket issues, Mona. It looks at judicial security, which has been a
