Where does that rank in your illustrious 40-year broadcasting career?

Well, I always said the same thing. I mean, it didn't matter how many people that I've worked with.

The one I aspired to work with was Chuck Garfine.

And if I could just get, you know, just get a show, even a half a show, even a couple of lines,

anything, that would be, you know, that would make the whole thing complete.

That, you know, then, you know, then if I didn't ever win the Ford Frick Award,

it wouldn't really matter because I would have worked with our Chuck.

And that's our Steve, the iconic, humorous, and maybe next week, he becomes the Hall of Famer, Steve Stone.

And Steve has had quite the unicorn broadcasting career.

Crossing so many paths, he's literally the forest gump of baseball broadcasting.

Because besides working with Harry Carey, Hawk Harrelson, and Jason Benetti,

he's also been in the booth with Al Michaels, Howard Cosell, Bill Murray, Jack Buck, Bob Costas, Pat Summerall,

then-President Ronald Reagan, and the list goes on and on.

He's one of 10 finalists for the 2023 Ford Frick Award presented for excellence in baseball broadcasting by the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The winner is going to be announced December 7th at the winter meeting.

So this was a great time to speak with Steve about his broadcasting career.

And about the White Sox.
