Let me begin by saying it's with a lot of humility.

I stand up here in the shoes of my friend Rob Bryner.

And I know that Rob is looking down.

And what he is looking down upon is an unfinished story.

And that's what America is.

We are an exceptional nation, not because we are powerful, but because out of a powerful

idea came a good nation and at the beginning and at the beginning there were words put to paper that rupture history, that split it in half,

before and after, a government comes into existence based on the power of an idea.

Imperfectly lived, hypocritically conceived.

The greatest idea ever put to paper by the mind of man comes from the hand of a slaveholder that all men are created equal.

And endowed by a creator with inalienable rights, amongst them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
