When you think about it at some level, it makes sense that MAGA would try to reinvent the story of the Titanic.

You know, in their version, it doesn't sink.

But you remember the tale, right?

The CEO of the White Star Line, a guy named Bruce Hismay demanded the captain a fellow named

John Smith plowed the Titanic on its maiden voyage through the ice at full speed to set a speed

record as the marketers declared it the ship that God himself could not sink. When the Titanic struck the ice,

when Frederick Fleet, the lookout saw it through the black of the night, it was already too late.

At the point of contact, the ship trembled, but most people didn't even notice. The people who got into the

lifeboats before midnight, well, they survived and went on to live long lives. Those who stayed too

long, they drowned as the ship that God himself could not sink sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean.

The CEO, of course, well, he made it off.

The rumors in the age, though a slur were he had dressed like a woman because as the old

saw went, women and children first.

But that didn't matter to the third class passengers, mostly Irish, who were

chained in the decks below. That's the story of the Titanic. But according to J.D. Vance,
