As you may probably know by now, one of the traits I value most in people is authenticity.

I like when people can tell me the real story.

While the highs of life are great to celebrate, the low moments are of equal importance.

What we've been through and what we've survived together are the fabric of who we are.

And my guest is the embodiment of the highs and lows.

Steve Harvey is arguably one of the most influential entertainers of our time.

But success for him was far from guaranteed and it didn't come overnight.

I used to spend the night in hotel parking lots.

What was I going to do?

I ain't anywhere to stay so I lived in the car.

I had $35.

And I said, come on, God, man, I've been trying to make this dream come true.

You don't left me out here like this.

And I was crying so hard that he just said, I didn't hear a voice or nothing.

But he spoke to me in however he said, if you get up, I'm going to take you places you

ain't never been.

You'll rarely find somebody this honest and this transparent about how they got where

they are today.

As I sit with Steve and you'll hear this yourself, I can't help but admire his perseverance

and grit.

And while he's admittedly a cryer like I am, he's not afraid to laugh along the way.
