| 0:00.0 | Hey everyone, it's Nate and I'm here, sadly with another replay of a past episode, a past interview from the vinyl guide. |
| 0:13.4 | This time it's Steve Albini. He just passed 61 years of age, very, very young, apparently of a heart attack, which, I mean, the guy had a |
| 0:25.2 | big heart. He put a lot of it into his music and gave a lot of it to others too, and much of it |
| 0:32.6 | made its way to the records in all our collections from, oh, there's so many projects he worked on. |
| 0:40.2 | Geez, he's literally got over a thousand credits, album credits. |
| 0:45.9 | If you look them up on discogs, you know, Big Black, Slint, Boss Hogg. |
| 0:52.9 | Of course, his own project, Shalak. |
| 0:55.4 | He worked with Nirvana. |
| 0:56.7 | He worked with the stooges, the Jesus lizard, pixies. |
| 1:01.2 | God, the list goes on. |
| 1:02.5 | And man, he was so well respected for what he did. |
| 1:05.5 | And such an amazing work ethic. |
| 1:09.0 | Incredible engineer. |
| 1:10.0 | You know, his ability to capture sound and to work on the details |
| 1:15.8 | and appreciate and make sure that the sound that we hear as listeners is the absolute best |
| 1:23.1 | in his opinion and he would work tirelessly on that. |
| 1:28.7 | Incredible dude. |
| 1:34.2 | Exactly this sort of guy you want helming a studio environment and microphones and a mixing board. |
| 1:35.7 | His own project, Shalak, was fantastic. |
| 1:38.6 | I mean, pick up some Shalak records when you can. |
| 1:41.0 | Again, they tend to fly under the radar a bit, but those who know, those who have the music, know what I'm talking about here. And on top of it all, he was a very generous guy, you know. He just passed it. And I'm sure there's going to be a dozen or more different podcasts that are going to be doing their own replays of their conversations with Steve. And that's fantastic. I'm sure they're all great. But that's how benevolent the guy was. |
| 2:04.8 | He would share his information. He liked talking about it. He liked teaching in his own funny way. |
