My guest today is Steve Albini, who's one of the great record producer, engineers.

Recording artists too, you know a bunch of the records that he's credited as producer

on, he also engineered him and mixed him most of the time, unless someone took the record

away and fucked him on the mix in his language, but any one of these records would be kind

of like enough.

He made surfer Rosa with the Pixies, an album that's one of my favorite albums of all time

and was my most listened to or second most listened to album of 1993, PJ Harvey's

Rid of Me.

I'll never forget the first time I heard that record and I'll never forget just how many

days I listened to it to try to understand why it sounded, the way that it sounded in

my headphones, a little album called In You To Row that I know he kind of sometimes

wants to distance himself from, but still there's just no reason to, as far as I'm concerned.

And also his own band, Shalak, if you don't know that band, they have an album called

Dude Incredible that's mind-moggling and I love, so check that out.

He's also a writer who is able to write really lucidly about many questions facing artists

and how artists should think about the world and how those who are adjunct to artists

ought to think about their responsibilities and duties and role.

He's also a great poker player who's won a couple of events and obviously all these

things are things that I think about a lot and so hey man, thanks for being here.
