exploring the threads connecting ecology, culture, and spirituality.

In the wake of a summer, where much of the world burned with wildfires,

where relentless heat waves broke global temperature records,

where a year's worth of rainfall inundated cities within days,

there can be no denying that we are encountering transformations

that are mythic in both nature and proportion.

The long prophesized fallout of our environmental neglect

is becoming profoundly tangible.

Undercut by a rapidly changing climate, an unraveling cultural paradigms that have gripped our societies for so long,

much of the familiar, the comfortable, and the knowable is fracturing around us, disappearing out from underneath us.

And so, when we are left with both the fragments of a dying world

and given glimpses of an emerging one,

when there is so much beauty and destruction to be witnessed,

how can we find our bearings?

How can we learn to be within this liminal space?

In this talk, given at our recent shifting landscape's retreat, held at Sharpen Trust in Devon, England,

I wanted to offer a frame of how we might navigate this current moment of unprecedented

transition and transformation, and speak to what can take root when we truly open ourselves to the

grief we're feeling, and how that can open us to love, and ultimately a deepening kinship with the living world.
