Last week, Luke and I were lucky enough to find ourselves in the orbit of a particular

Sherlockian of impeccable repute, and in a very last minute arrangement, he was generous enough to share

with us a few moments of his time to discuss his experiences as a lifelong scholar of the great

detective, as well as some reflections on our favorite homes, Mr. Jeremy Brett, of whom

he is also a sincere fan. Now, Luke and I will report more on our time with Mr. Fry

and our other Sherlockian adventures abroad in the next episode.

Hello there.

So it's well known that you've been a member of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London

since you were a wee lad.

Yeah.

Any, uh, did that lead to any early adventures for you?

What are your earliest memories of reading?

It led me being expelled from my, from school actually, yes.

Because I got permission from my house master to go to London, the school was in the countryside,

to attend a meeting of the Sherlock Holmes Society.

I was 15, just 15.

And I went to the meeting, but I stayed in London.

I suddenly discovered cinema in a massive way.
