This week we are getting behind the mic with Dr. Stephany Giraldo, DO, MPH. She is a first-generation Latinx primary care physician. Dr. Giraldo is an advocate for diversity in medicine and public health. Currently, she is working on several projects that aim to increase health equity and positively impact non-English speakers, one of which involves community members sharing their cultural beliefs and practices with providers. Dr. Stephany’s parents immigrated from Colombia. She speaks about her journey as a new doctor and experience as the first in her family to attend college and go into medicine. Moreover, she speaks about her experience working as a Doctor with Autoimmune arthritis. She is a huge advocate for preventative care, mental wellness, and compassionate healthcare.
