All of that with an eye towards determining whether or not US supporters need to be at their respective Panic Stations.

After that, Elliot Barr of the River City 93 podcast joins the show to talk about the conclusion of the regular season for the Richmond Kickers, their playoff outlook, and why this season has been one of the most enjoyable in recent memory.

On today's episode, we're going to get to the bottom of every fan base's favorite topic.

1:01.5

Is it time to panic?

1:03.7

The U.S. women's national team lost their friendlies against England and Spain.

1:06.8

They haven't looked like the dominant team we've come to expect.

1:09.6

Here with me to break it all down, make sense of what's happening, is the athletics, Steph Young. Steph, thank you for being here. Thanks for having me on. Yes, I appreciate your more subdued approach to the introduction, which is maybe more reflective of the mood around the U.S. women's national team right now. But let's start off happier. You got to go to England. The loss aside, how was the trip? It was fantastic. It was my very first time in England,

1:33.6

London specifically. I mean, it's, everyone is always like Wembley's an experience, and they were right.

1:39.4

Is it? On match day minus one, it was media, obviously. And then people were allowed to come down to pitch level to do B-roll for photo and video.

1:50.2

And us, like, normal, just word print people also came along and got to watch practice, which meant we got to be down on field level on the sidelines of the pitch at Wembley.

1:59.5

Like, couldn't go on the pitch, but it could be down there. And it was like, I'm not even a player, and I could feel like odd in the moment. So it was great. Was it just the size, the, I guess, relative history? What was it like for you that really kind of conveyed that moment? It's kind of everything. Obviously, it's a massive stadium. And as you come out underneath this awning with like the three lines logo on it, the stadium opens up all above and around you. And then you're like, oh, we're in Wembley. And then of course, the national team comes out. And even though it's just practice and maybe you've been here a dozen times before, it's always still like super cool.

2:34.3

So it's nice to have a reminder that actually we kind of have really cool jobs. Yeah, right? Yeah, imagine getting to go to London to watch soccer is a tough one. It's like when I tell my wife, like, oh, yeah, I've got a lot of work tonight. I've got to watch three games. I've said this before, but it's not quite like coal mining, is it when you have to watch soccer for a living?

2:55.2

It's stressful, but, you know, if this is the kind of work stress I have to deal with, then that's highly preferable to other kinds of stress.

3:04.6

True.

3:05.2

Even within work, which is, I guess, why I'm on today.

3:08.3

Yeah.

3:09.1

And up front with that in mind, I'd like to say that I thought your, is it time to panic article
