Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Sports Now and Steelers Now. The Pittsburgh Steelers made big trades at the NFL Trade deadline to get rid of Chase Claypool for a second round pick from the Chicago Bears, and to get William Jackson III for virtually nothing from the Washington Commanders. Both moves were big to add to the Steelers' NFL Draft capital and bring in a capable starting cornerback to replace Ahkello Witherspoon. The Claypool deal seems like a steal as the Steelers weren't going to pay Claypool a major extension, and now they get what's most likely a top 50 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Jackson adds veteran skills at cornerback to an injured room this season. Both moves seem like savvy plays by Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin. But can the Steelers compete?
