Good morning. Well, I can shed a bit of light on the question you asked about how many Iranians are in the UK.

At the last census in 2021, that counted over 114,000 Iranians in the UK.

Most of them arrived after the fall of the Shah in the early 70s and are thoroughly British and, you know, they are fully part of our national life in a positive way.

My concern is much more linked to the number of asylum seekers that are coming over on small boats.

And Iranians are the third largest group

after the Pakistanis and the Afghans. There were some 8,000 asylum claims from people from

Iran last year. I mean, that's pretty substantial. And there are certain countries for which,

instead of asking more questions and making it more difficult, we actually do the opposite.

And we kind of say, oh dear, you come from a bit of a tough place. Come on in. And Iran is one of

those. I mean, no other country in the world to the best of my knowledge behaves in this way

identifies a country as being a country that's run by a lot of dangerous nutters and says, actually,

we're going to welcome a bunch of people from that country who we can't be sure are not

sympathetic to those dangerous nutters. Well, this is the question I'm putting to people who are

going to be looking around today

at a march being organised by Palestine action,

and weren't stopped by the military authorities
