Summary

Clay Travis reacts to the Miami Marlins ‘rona outbreak, and how MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred dealt with it head-on. Clay brings in the crew and callers from around the country to weigh-in on how people on social media and some in sports media seem to be rooting for sports to collapse. Outkick’s MLB insider Jon Morosi joins the show with the very latest on the Marlins and the rest of the league, plus Clay gets breaking news TWICE about Patriots players opting out of the upcoming NFL season. Clay talks about his Twitter poll regarding the media rooting against sports, and Petros of AM 570 LA Sports is here, but almost flat-lines during the interview.

1:45.5

And we saw it in the MLS when they basically had to say to Dallas and the Nashville MLS teams know too many positive tests you guys aren't a part of our start off tournament.

1:58.8

We saw it in in certainly the NHL and in the NBA in their early season test before they entered their bubble.

2:09.5

But we've talked about this quite a bit one of the biggest challenges of the major league baseball season was going to be the fact that they elected not to play in a bubble to have a lot more normal see in their lives.

2:22.6

Then was going on in the NBA in the NHL in the MLS at least a start.

And so I got to give credit to Rob Manfred the commissioner of major league baseball now we have ripped Rob Manfred the commissioner major league baseball a lot on this show during the course of the last five or six months because he hasn't been particularly a very strong public leader at least it hasn't seemed as the major league baseball players union and owners couldn't get figured out how to come back and play.

3:42.1

And certainly as the Houston Astros fall out which seems like forever ago now played itself out but I got to give credit to Rob Manfred here last night he set and answered the tough questions from the major league baseball network.

3:58.0

I listened to the entire 10 minute interview Tom Verducci did a really good job going through the specifics with Rob Manfred and major league baseball appears to be staying the course in particular.

4:12.1

Manfred said he hopes that the marlins are able to play again by Wednesday and also that there was no discussion with the owners about canceling the major league baseball season here was Rob Manfred a couple of takeaways from his conversation last night on the MLB network discussing the latest controversy about the major league baseball season which was positive test from Miami marlins.

4:41.1

Well our first concern obviously is the health of the players and their families and making sure that we do everything possible to minimize the spread of the virus among our employees.

4:54.1

We've been fortunate so far we've done tens of thousands of tests our positive rate has been 0.4% so we feel like the protocols have worked pretty well.

5:03.1

No there really wasn't we talked about the situation I think most of the owners realize that we built protocols anticipating that we would have positive tests at some point during the season that the protocols were built in order to allow us to continue to play through those positives and I think there was support for the notion that we believe that the protocols are adequate to keep our players safe.
