I don't know what you think, but I think it's harder to be a young

person now than it was when I was growing up.

You may have a different perspective,

and you likely were growing up a lot more recently than I was because I'm old.

But we didn't have school shootings or mall shootings or church shootings.

We didn't have concert shootings. We didn't have social media, so there was no temptation to put photos on Instagram or Facebook.

To the contrary, we did everything we could to avoid being photographed doing anything. But things are different now and I think things are harder.

Young people have always suffered from image issues and our culture has always been very, very hard on women and girls in particular.

But it does seem even harder.

A Dr. Kevin Gilliland is a clinical psychologist. He is someone I have known for 40 years. I love him to death, but most

importantly for purposes of this conversation, he's a father. So let's bring in an expert and see if we can figure out what's going on and how to make it better.
