This email comes from John, he says, dear Ken, I'm currently clear on where I'm headed,

I know that my sweet spot is teaching music at the college level, specifically directing choirs and teaching about church music.

I know that I'll need a doctorate degree in music to get there, but I'm currently in only the first semester of my master's degree in conducting.

I already have a master's of church music, but to enter a doctoral program that fits me, I need a degree in conducting.

I'm 27 years old, meaning I now won't graduate from my doctorate until I'm at least 32.

How do I stay encouraged over the next five years of school until I get where I want to be?

I love this question, this is an honest question, because when you are so crystal clear, folks like John is on what it is you want to do,

it feels agonizing at times to not be able to do it, because you can see it.

And it really does really stretch us when it comes to patients.
