Wow!

We had heard rumors ahead of this state of the Union's dress from President Joe Biden

But this was a lengthy speech. We were settling in. This speech

was long in word count, but it was delivered with a lot of energy and a lot of pace and

a

combativeness

and sort of liveliness that I'm not sure that I've ever seen in this particular type of presidential address

We had a number of instances in which it appeared to be or since was that there were

members of Congress on the Republican side who were shouting at him

heckling at least responding to him

Rather than him shutting that down or ignoring that or having it be sort of a crisis moment. He instead took those opportunities

to fit to have the argument

to

challenge them back to

bring the pace even further to the fore I think

probably the most remarkable one of those moments maybe what this speech will be remembered for was about halfway through

in discussing first the debt and the deficit then the need to raise the debt ceiling and then ultimately whether or not social security and Medicare will be threatened

by the

Republican Congress

He appeared to turn the heckling back on the Republicans and sort of trick them into agreeing with him publicly that they wouldn't do that

Because as you were remarking on that as being a moment that reminded you a little bit of not so much of a previous state of the union

But at that moment during the Obama presidency when he went into the Republican
