Hey everybody, here on the Packaday podcast, we're all about look good, play good, and that's why I'm super excited to announce our new sponsor, Oakley. Oakley is changing the game and it's time to discover a whole new world of possibilities. Do you run, golf, workout, or just want to look like Aaron Jones? Then you need to get yourself a pair of Oakley's today. Last season, I saw Aaron Jones wearing his signature Oakley sunglasses, and I knew I had to have a pair.

Suited for everyday eye with frames and lenses that allow for an expression of your own unique personality, there's more than meets the eye. With summer just around the corner, you're going to want to

What the hell is that, you ask? It's a proprietary technology to Oakley and available for everyday settings as well. Want to know more? I know you do, so head over to oakley.com and do your own research. And while you're there, get yourself a pair of everyday glasses that'll be sure to change your look for the better. Really appreciate you being here today. Really excited about today's episode, actually, because what I want to do is take an all-encompassing look at this Packers defense and what I think they can ultimately be in 2023, what they lost, what they gain, where they're at, what they need to improve at. So we're going to go over everything today, what I'm calling the state of the Green Bay Packers defense. So kind of like the state of the union address, today we're doing the state of the Packers, but we're focusing on the defensive side of the ball. So let's first of all look at some statistics from a season ago, and then we'll look at again, who's left, who is in, who's out, et cetera, and we'll kind of go from there. So from a statistical standpoint,

2:18.5

they were tied 17th last year in points allowed at 21.8 points per game. They allowed the seventh

2:24.8

most rushing yards at 139.5 yards per game. As we've talked about in the past, they allowed

2:30.3

to staggering and really not great, 5.0 yards per carry.

2:35.4

They had the six best pass defense, however, with only 197 yards of passing allowed per game.

2:41.9

They had the fifth few of sacks, which actually took me a little bit by surprise.

2:45.2

I know they lost Rishon Gary, but I was still not expecting it to be quite that bad,

2:49.1

but fifth fewest sacks with only 34 sacks

2:51.6

a season to go.

2:52.7

They had the eighth best third down percentage defensively with a 37.6 conversion rate.

2:57.9

That's really, really good.
