What's up, Mets fans? I'm Matthew Strang from Metzbog.com. At the recording of this podcast,

the Mets are 14 and 6, they're a half game ahead of the Phillies. They're going to start playing a

three-game series against the Cardinals before traveling to San Diego, then back to Queens.

Matt Harvey has been sent to the bullpen. Jason Vargas is about to return from the DL.

The offense isn't hitting. The bullpen is struggling, and is about to return from the DL. The offense isn't hitting.

The bullpen is struggling. And this is the state of the Mets for April 24th, 2018.

I know that he's a million dollar athlete, good looks, you know, page six, super models, blah, blah, blah.

But Matt Harvey's still a human being and he still has hopes and dreams and expectations

and self-doubt and all kinds of things running through his mind.

And for that, you know, I feel bad for the guy.

I really do.

I mean, you know, he had a certain level of

expectation when he stood on that mound in 2013 during the All-Star game. And pretty much from

that point, it's been a downhill struggle. It's been a fight for him. He had the Tommy John surgery.

He worked to come back from that. I think people don't realize that he, through the most

innings ever, for somebody coming back from Tommy John surgery, that first year he returned. You know,

you remember all the arguments about whether he should shut it down or keep pitching because

they were going to be in the postseason and he pushed and he pushed and he did and he'd had a great season in 15 it was terrific then in 16 he has the thoracic outlet syndrome

issue which if you've never experienced that kind of nerve pain in your arm and and i have my wife has

my wife actually has a t-os You know, it's not easy.

It's painful.

It's awkward.
