And it's a solemn history class.

It's a solemn anniversary today. And we're going to get to it right at the onset.

Here we go. Strap in your seatbelt kids because history class awaits Arlington National Cemetery.

That's where we're going today.

The first military burial took place in Arlington this day in 1864.

1864. On May 13th, 1864, Union soldiers buried the remains of 21-year-old private William Henry Christman.

Chrisman was of the 67th Pennsylvania infantry.

He died two days earlier in a Washington, D.C. hospital from complications related to measles.

The Civil War was entering its third year, and cemeteries in the capital were full.

There was no room left, so a private Christman was laid to rest in a new burial ground on the Virginia side of the Potomac,
