Back in 1997, William Mold was a 40-year-old mortgage broker living in Lantana, Florida.

That's on the east coast of Florida, north of Fort Lauderdale.

By all accounts, he was a pretty steady guy.

He wasn't known to be a heavy drinker or someone who spent the whole night out

partying, and he certainly wasn't a type to just walk away from the comfortable life he had built
