I'm James Damato, your host and GameMaster.

Heroes, what you're about to hear is a sample of Star Wall Odyssey.

Our Patreon exclusive series that I'm running with people who just

happen to live in my house. When we were originally planning this campaign, a lot of us got very

excited and very nostalgic about about Spell Jammer.

And up until our very first recording, we were planning on a Spell Jammer game.

But just as we got our books and we're about to start the series, some people very helpfully pointed out that there are some extremely problematic and racist components in the setting of the new spell Jammer for Fifth Edition.

And with this being like the sixth racism-based scandal

that I can remember happening with Wizards of the Coast,

we all kind of decided that we didn't want to play Spell Jammer anymore, but we were really attached to our characters.

And because that news broke the morning we were about to record our first session,

we're still using the mechanics of D&D in this sample game. We shifted to a different system after this recording

and started changing the setting as we played. Despite the rocky start, I think the game we're playing is wonderful, and I hope you enjoy. Now with that, we start in space. We can see all around us the swirling colors of nebulas and dancing lights of distant stars.

Beneath is a meteor.

Not just any meteor.

This one lies long and flat with a map dotted with buildings. An entire city built

onto an isolated floating rock in space. We get closer and closer and

closer and the details become more distinct. The first question that I have for all of you, what bizarre

landmark in this city is the first thing that comes into view as we zoom in from space.

You know how in Vegas they have like a little Eiffel Tower and a tower
