Here's my concern with a strategy I think the Mets have right now with building this rotation.

Joel Sherman reported that he's hearing they're not really going to be active on the top of the starting pitching market,

which is Corbyn's, Max Fried, guys of that nature.

While I understand the strategy of, hey, let's go short term, let's not be committed on

long-term contracts. We see how pitchers can break down. We see how, you know, that contract can age

horribly, especially with the Tommy John surgery. And we're confident in our ability to fix guys.

We're confident in our pitching lab. We're confident in Jeremy Heffner. So let's do what we did

last year. Get guys on short-term deals.

And that'll be our strategy.

While I get it and I like it to a degree, when there's an ace available, I want to go

get them.

Because I don't think it's healthy, especially if you're trying to compete every year,

to basically have your rotation rely on lottery tickets.

Right.

On one year deals that you hope find their path again.

Right.

That's what it was with Sevi last year.

It's what it's going to be with Mania, I mean, Montas, just like it was with Mania,

who now has priced himself out of staying with the Mets, most likely, depending on

whether or not they get Juan Soto or Pete Alonzo, or any of those other free agents that they're

trying to get to right now. But it's, it gives you no long-term plan. It's all short-term
