European leaders have met in Paris to work out how to respond to America's new big power

approach to Europe and the war in Ukraine. With the US seemingly keen to scrap

its post-war security guarantees for the continent, one of the big issues of discussion was how

to beef up European defence. The leaders also stressed the need for Ukraine to have a say in any

peace deal, even as American and Russian officials prepared to hold face-to-face talks without

any Ukrainians. The German Chancellor O'Lef Schultz said Ukraine shouldn't have to accept

the result of such talks.
