Summary
It might be a new day for the prime minister but his leadership crisis certainly hasn’t gone away as he prepares to meet his health secretary Wes Streeting this morning.
Their meeting will take place before the King’s Speech in the House of Lords - a day of pomp and pageantry where the monarch will lay out the government’s agenda for the coming year.
Meanwhile, the UK has said it will send drones, fighter jets and a warship to a joint mission aimed at safeguarding shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
It comes as the world’s two most powerful men are set to meet in Beijing as Donald Trump heads to China to be hosted by the country’s president Xi Jinping.
Back in the UK - 20 British passengers who were aboard the hantavirus-stricken cruise ship are expected to be released from isolation at a Merseyside hospital.
Finally - Israel has qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest final in a year where Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Spain and Slovenia have all boycotted the event due to its involvement.
Ali and Wilf have the day's news in just 10 minutes.
