I forget who said it actually, but the right wing or the right of politics is constantly trying to recruit

while the left is constantly looking for traitors to expel. It's something of a truism,

but it occurred to me this morning when the story of Keistarmid determining to go after

Labour leadership election rules that allow the party to end up being led in Parliament by people who hardly anybody in Parliament wants to be led by.

It's easy to forget how few people supported Jeremy Corbyn from the Parliamentary Labour Party during that leadership battle with Owen Smith, remember him.

But I think the figure was 18. It was incredibly low. I spoke to Angela

Rainer about it yesterday because she was one of the few. And although she, like everybody else,

with a scintilla of common sense in the parliamentary Labour Party, comes under constant

attack from the former leader's fan club. She was loyal because she felt that the mandate delivered by the election,

whatever the terms of the election may have been,

the mandate delivered by the election should be respected.

So he should have had a chance to fight at least one general election.
