by Katie Balls and James Heel. So the confusion around whether Diane Abbott will be able to stand

as a parliamentary candidate for Hackney continues and now former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has

waited in suggesting that Kia Starma is trying to

purge the left wing of the Labour Party. Katie in your blog this morning you say

that he's not wrong. Well I think this is part of a broader stama project and that you have to see what's happening now you have to go back a year or two and actually you could go as far back that we are a 10 minute podcast or we tried to be to when Kiestam became

Labour leader and when the first thing as team set about on was candidate selection and the

sense that if you want to change the Labour Party there's obviously lots of things you can do on policy on

You know your messaging but the people who form the Parliamentary Labour Party are a key part of that as well as your members.

And I think there was a sense that 2017 and 2019 were not the best when it came to candidate

selection for the Labour Party.

And that's part because snap elections

always mean that you don't have the usual pace.

Also, you don't have the usual time

to do really careful vetting.
