Summary

In the Star Trek: Voyager episode, “Child's Play,” homecoming can be tough. There's the pressure to impress your parents, the struggle to fit back in, and your old bedroom is smaller than you rememebr. It's even tougher when you find out that you were genetically engineered as a bio-weapon to defeat the Borg. "Child's Play" goes into the Mission Log.

Hosted by John Champion and Earl Green

Welcome to Mission Log, a Roddenberry Entertainment podcast, where we explore the Star Trek universe one episode at a time. Each week, Mission Log examines a single episode of Star Trek, diving into its ethical subtext, metaphors, and cultural significance. From the show’s most iconic moments to its hidden gems, we analyze what makes Star Trek one of the greatest science fiction sagas of all time.

In every episode of Mission Log we…

  • Recap the story and analyze key moments.
  • Discuss the morals, messages, and meanings of the dilemmas presented.
  • Debate whether the episode holds up and if the themes are still relevant.

This week, Child's Play, the one where Echab gets to go home again. He'll have his own room, get to play sports, and have a rewarding career in agricultural genetics. Just don't ask about the part of being engineered as a bio weapon. Oh, family. Earl, welcome back. I've changed a few diapers in my time. Every child is a bio weapon.
