Captain's Log star date 1709.2.

Patrolling outposts guarding the neutral zone between planets Romulus and Ramos and the

rest of the galaxy received emergency call from Outpost four. The USS Enterprise is moving to investigate

and assist. Wedding bells are ringing in the chapel of the Enterprise as Kirk prepares to officiate.

Unfortunately, love loses to war as the Enterprise must respond to an attack on the outpost of the

Romulan Neutral Zone. The Enterprise investigates the edge of the Neutral Zone where Earth outposts are being destroyed.

The Neutral Zone is a result of the Earth-Romulan War that happened over 100 years prior.

Lieutenant Stiles makes the assertion that the aggressors must be Romulans.

The Enterprise receives a call from Captain Hansen on Outpost 4. He survived the attack but just barely, a powerful blast of energy from the enemy ship destroyed his command center a mile deep within the asteroid.

The ship reappears and Hansen's communication drops.

The enemy ship, now presumed to be Romulan, has some sort of invisibility shield, but

sensors show it taking a leisurely pace back toward Romulan space.

Uhura is able to connect to a communication signal and the Enterprise is able to peer into

the Romulan ship and uh-oh, those Romulans sure do look like Vulcans.

Stiles, who has a personal history with the Romulans, flies his bigotry flag a little too high, so Kirk cuts it off the flagpole, telling him leave it in your quarters, mister. The Romulan commander is too cunning to believe that they're running from a sense of reflection, so they cloak again. He demotes one of his underlings for sending

a message home to tell their prey tour what a great job they're doing. The commander is

tired of war. Stiles implies that Kirk doesn't have the guts to take out the Romulan bird

of prey. And instead of giving the whiny Stiles a bare bottom spanking like he should, Kirk

brings the people who matter to the ready room to

figure out what to do. Stiles also gets to go. Guess which two crew members disagree

the most? Yep, it's Spock and McCoy. Ultimately, Stiles' bigotry and Spock's

familiarity with the enemy, Sway Kirk. He sees an opportunity to reveal the Romulan ship
