Summary

“GALACTIC COOK” "Ahead of its time" is a barely adequate phrase with which to describe Star Raiders. Doug Neubauer's 1979 space combat simulator was a sensation at the time, and still manages to impress 45 years later. Leon, Chris O'Regan and Jesse activate shields and take on the might of the evil Zylon empire, before diving into the game's incredible legacy, including long-range scans of its various conversions, spin-offs and follow-ups. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_619.mp3   Edited by Jay Taylor You can support Cane and Rinse and in return receive an often extended version of the podcast four weeks early, along with exclusive podcasts, if you subscribe to our Patreon for the minimum of $2 per month (+VAT).  Do you have an opinion about a game we're covering that you'd like read on the podcast? 0:45.0

Star Raiders, and I think this is one that although is sort of kind of legendary in some ways,

0:51.2

is also very, very old.

0:53.0

And this is one of the first podcasts I can ever remember us doing,

0:58.0

probably not the actual first, but maybe,

1:00.0

where we have had absolutely no correspondence whatsoever.
