towards Iowa State even as a kid because he loved watching Fred Hoiberg play

and he liked cheering for the Underdogs, at least back then anyway.

When it was time for college, Derek only submitted one application and that was to Iowa State.

He attended nearly every football and men's basketball game as a student and even though he's moved

around the country as an adult
