0:26.8 | We're joining us in part four of the five-part message series on the book of Daniel where we're looking at selected stories from this amazing old testament book. |
0:36.8 | I want to say, as we dive into this week's message, I believe with all my heart that for some of you, this will be a great message of hope. |
0:46.8 | I believe that God is going to speak directly to some of you who've been praying for a very long time. |
0:53.8 | Believing that God would do something significant, and you've been praying and believing and you still haven't seen any results. |
1:01.8 | If that's you, I believe this message will speak to you. |
1:05.8 | In fact, I know so many people that are praying and believing for miracles in so many different areas of life. |
1:11.8 | Some people who are praying for their children or other loved ones to come to faith in Christ. |
1:16.8 | Some who are praying for a breakthrough, like to overcome depression or a financial breakthrough. |
1:22.8 | Maybe a relational breakthrough. Some of you are praying for your parents and their marriage is not good, and you don't want to see them divorced and so you're praying for a miracle. |
1:32.8 | Some are praying for a physical miracle. God, heal me of cancer or heal someone that I love of some type of disease. |
1:39.8 | Some of you are praying for your own marriage. Whatever it is, if you've been believing God for a long time for something significant and you still haven't seen results, I believe that God is going to minister to you in a very, very special way. |
1:51.8 | So if you have your Bibles, let's open them to Daniel chapter 10, or you can always follow along in your notes or on the U version Bible app. |
2:00.8 | And let me give you the context of where we are. If you were with us last week, you'll remember Daniel was in his 80s or so in the story of Daniel and the lion's den. |
2:10.8 | He's older than that this week. He's an old man. And literally for decades upon decades, he's been standing firm in the faith believing that God would do some miracles. |
2:22.8 | Because if you remember in week one, we saw how King Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the temple, captured so many young men, made them into slaves. |
2:32.8 | And Daniel for decades has been praying that God would restore the temple that was destroyed and that his Jewish brothers and sisters who've been in bondage for all these years would be released to go back to their homeland. |
2:46.8 | And there were some signs that this might actually happened, but all of a sudden he received a vision from God that was so disturbing to him. |
2:56.8 | All he could do was seek God in prayer. He saw a vision of more war and hardships than his like, I've been praying for decades. |
3:04.8 | And now I see more hard times are coming. I can't even take this. And so Daniel did what Daniel always did. He sought God in prayer. For 21 days, he went on a fast. |
3:14.8 | Now, if you're new to our church every year, our staff at the beginning of the year goes on a 21 day fast and literally thousands of you in the church join us as we seek God in prayer. |
