The NBA's return to play was in part about Black Lives Matter, social justice, messaging.

And that became like a huge part of the NBA, really.

In a way that I think was unprecedented in American sports history.

The players deserve the credit because it was a condition of them coming back.

The moment demanded it.

The players, a lot of them, would start every press conference, every media availability

they had talking about some social justice, racial justice cause.

I could get their first question and say, okay, before I get into that, and they would

talk about Breonna Taylor.

Then they progressed as we got closer to the election with voting becoming their major

issue.

And they were a little bit embarrassed because the media, doing their research said, these

guys are going to tell us to vote 20% of them are registered to vote.

And Chris Paul as president of the Players Association took it upon himself and very quickly,

like within days 90% of the players were registered to vote.

Half of the teams had 100% registration to vote.
