Stan Lee, the godfather of Marvel Comics, died last week,

sending fans around the world into mourning.

Over his long career, Lee invented or co-created many of Marvel's most memorable superheroes,

from the Fantastic Four and the Black Panther to the Hulk, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.

He also witnessed their evolutions from comic books to TV, film, the internet, and video games.

But it all started modestly at a comics company called Timely.

Lee was all of 17, fetching coffee and doing other menial tasks.

Eventually, Timely became Marvel.

With TV exploding in the 50s, comics turned to more lurid
