Welcome to our Rosary.

I'm Dr. Troy Henkel.

I'm glad to be with you.

Let's begin by calling to mind

that we are always in the presence of Almighty God

in whom we live and move and have our being.

We call upon him in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

We want to offer this Rosary tonight for Doc Holiday.

He is having some terrible times with COVID.

So we pray for him, for Maria and his family, for his recovery.

We pray for the Caneles as well and the Clay family as well. This is the

feast of St Mary Major as well as Our Lady of the Snows, so that is the title of our Rosary.

Today August 5th is the feast of the dedication of the Basilica and Rome, St Mary Major.

It is also the feast of Our Lady of the Snow's, as the two are connected.

This feast day commemorates a powerful intervention in the mother of God in the world.

In 358 AD, there was a Roman aristocrat named Giovanni. He and his wife having no children

made a vow to donate their possessions to the Virgin Mary. They prayed that she might make known to them how they

were to dispose of their property in her honor. Mary appeared to Giovanni in a dream

on August 4th and told him to build a church on the site where he would find snow the following morning.

Upon rising, the bewildered noblemen went immediately to tell the Pope, Pope Liberiaus, about his dream.
