| 1:01.0 | Today is a feast of St. Josephine Bakeda. Born in 1869 in Darfur, Sudan, she was |
| 1:09.1 | kidnapped when she was nine years old by Muslim slave traders and forced to walk 600 miles barefoot. |
| 1:15.6 | She was then sold five times in the slave markets of Sudan. Every day she was whipped |
| 1:21.7 | until she blood. |
| 1:23.0 | Finally, in 1862, Bakita was bought by an Italian merchant who returned to Venice taking her with him. |
| 1:32.0 | But soon after, he had to return to Sudan, so he entrusted Bakita |
| 1:37.3 | to Catholic nuns in Venice. There she learned about God in heaven for the first time. |
