Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Jesus asked Saint. Faustina to begin a novena to the

divine mercy on Good Friday concluding on the first Sunday after Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday.

And that's why our fifth decade all week is the novina.

But first, it's important for you to get to know St. Faustina.

She's a close friend of mine and Theresa is named after Faustina. It's her middle name. Now if you've noticed I pronounce her name Faustina because a former student of mine from Poland politely reprimanded me for pronouncing it incorrectly.

He since has passed and we offer this rosary for his soul, his wife, and his children.

Now Faustino was born August 25, 1905 in Poland, and from the age of 7 she heard the definite call of God

to become a religious sister.

However, she writes, I was not always obedient to the call of grace and sadly she relates I came across

no one who would have explained these things to me. At 17 she begged her parents

for permission to enter the convent.

She got a flat refusal.

So she turned herself over to the vain things of life,

paying no attention to the call of grace,

even though she found no satisfaction in the things of the

world. When she was 18, she was at a dance with one of her sisters. About what happened next she writes
