0:44.2	I think this is the first time you've been on the podcast with me. So you're a Bible scholar.
0:49.4	What is your favorite book of the Bible to teach? Well, my favorite book of the Bible would have to be the Gospel of Matthew. It's there. We find the Serm sermon on the Mount, which is understood in Christian
0:55.8	tradition as the perfect sermon. And there we have the beatitudes, the Lord's Prayer. You just
1:02.3	can't get any better from me than the gospel of Matthew. I should think it's a little long for the
1:05.6	perfect sermon. I'm just kidding. We won't get into that. I'm very excited to be talking about
1:10.3	a biblical saint. I think we
1:12.1	maybe don't reflect as much on the biblical saints in their feasts. I go to a Byzantine liturgy
1:17.8	and they tend to highlight, especially the Old Testament saints a little more in their liturgical calendar.
1:22.2	So I'm looking forward to this. So tell me a little bit about St. Elizabeth, where do we find
1:26.8	her story in the Bible and maybe other traditions we know about her?
1:32.0	Well, the primary source for our knowledge of St. Elizabeth is the Gospel of Luke.
1:38.2	And in the Gospel of Luke, she is identified as the kinswoman or the cousin of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
1:46.6	So here we have a relative of Jesus and of course she's also the mother of John the Baptist.
1:54.2	Luke tells us that she was of the daughters of Aaron.
